The ‘Files and Settings transfer’ wizard is an easy way to transfer data from an old computer to a new computer. We do find it works best if you install all of the software on the new computer bprior to importing the data from the old.

The first question is does your laptop have XP drivers available. If it doesn’t then the answer is to keep the Vista.
By contacting the manufacturer or their website you can determine if they have produced drivers for your laptop.
